It's pretty unbelievable to me that we are going through this again just 14 weeks after my daddy passed away, but we are. My mom passed away early Saturday morning. She was diagnosed with the same lung cancer that my dad had the week before Thanksgiving and had been doing pretty well.
We celebrated her birthday on December 2nd, last Sunday we went out for breakfast and to Costco... then Thursday she went to bed an never got out. Too quick. Too much. Too shocking.

I don't know if this helps, but someone was interviewing Oprah and she said that when someone you love so deeply passes on, their spirit becomes part of you making you stronger and fills you with all the love they gained while here on Earth. Somehow, that thought made me feel more at peace with the loss of my loved ones.

ReplyDeleteMy heart is so with you, I lost both my parents almost the same way in 2013 and it still is so hard...At least they are together and no longer hurting or sick. Allow yourself to grieve anytime it hits you, I am still amazed how a random thought can set me off. I am not yet ready to scrap the photos or memories yet but I will sometime and it will be wonderful and comforting. Hugs from Texas.

Both my mom and dad died quick and unexpectedly, although they were in poor health, and I was always thankful that they did not suffer a long, slow death. Be grateful for that much. I lost my dad in May, almost the same story as your mom - went out for Mother's Day on Sunday, went out to dinner for his birthday on Monday and the Tuesday morning he was rushed to the hospital and passed away on Thursday. I'm still devastated - I can't imagine how you feel having lost both parents within months. I'm truly sorry.

We lost my uncle first, then his wife 3 months later and my husband's father as well. Two neighbors have lost their parents in short periods of time as well. I lost my soul mate to lung cancer in 2000, and we lost my in-law's from my second (current) marriage within 3 months of one another (not cancer, but not easy). It can happen when a couple have been together a long time and one passes then the love of there life will follow right behind. My grandpa passed away and my grandma died 6 weeks later. Just know they are together. Sorry for your loss.
