Teacher Appreciation Week Part 1

This week has been so much fun for me! I was in charge of our Teacher Appreciation Committee at Nicholas grade school, and I had such a fun time treating the teachers to a fabulous week. It was a lot of work being a committee of one, but it was worth every minute in the end! I volunteered at our old grade school in CA a lot, and my oldest son Benjamin remembers all we did there together, so I wanted Nicholas to have memories of doing something nice together at the grade school he attends, Discovery, here in ID.

Every morning the teachers received something in their mailboxes. Monday it was door hangers.

40 door hangers!

Monday, I decorated the teachers lounge with bright yellow table clothes and floral centerpieces. I also set up a small candy and snack buffet. They had little paper bags to fill with treats and take back to their classrooms.

Tuesday everyone received 4 thank you note cards and envelopes in their mailboxes.

Wednesday was the main day of our Teacher Appreciation. That morning they received these little poems in their mailboxes.
The teachers enjoyed a breakfast buffet of bagels, muffins, cinnamon rolls, donuts, cheeses, yogurts and fruit. We were fortunate to have tons of food and drinks donated for the morning. They really enjoyed it!Wednesday was also Cindo de Mayo and Benjamin celebrated in his Spanish class by bringing the pinata. How do you like Eric's sombrero? I think he looks more like a sailor!! Ü
It was a great first half of the week! I'll have the rest of the weeks photos tomorrow.

  6. I know those teachers really appreciated all your hard work. As a retired teacher, I was always thrilled to get a kind word and just a small bit of recognition for my time spent with the students. Wish we'd had someone like you to give us fabulous treats like these.

  8. Just wanted to let you know that I subscribe to your blog & I've LOVED EVERY single thing you create! I am one of those who just look & I am so bad about leaving comments:( This post stood out for me because this is EXACTLY what I used to do!! Now that my boys are 8 & 10, I just do things for their teachers only now! I ALWAYS did good things for our teachers because they care & teach our children 6-7 hours a day & I admire what they do! They just don't get the recognition they deserve! YOU DID An AWESOME job & I KNOW they appreciated ALL of your hard work to make it special for them! YOU ROCK!!

  10. I know how much work it is to plan all of that. I had to do the same on my own, but our school didn't want handmade stuff everyday or i'd have loved to do that. Your decorations and items look fabulous!

  14. Becky,

What a wonderful way to honor the teachers at your children's school. They work so hard to make sure children are sucessful and I know they love you and your family for all you do to show your appreciation. Makes me wish I worked there too!
