Start with cardstock 8 3/4" x 7 ". Click on picture to see the scoring and cutting lines.

Cut on the cut lines, score and pre-fold all score lines.

Fold the bottom section up.

Fold the center sections that you've scored at 1 1/2" in the middle over the bottom section to make the sides of the box thicker and more stable.

Fold the top section up and inside the box.

I really like your magazine tote, but I need a little help. I tried this 3 different times and I couldn't get the tote size to work out. I think the measurements might be wrong, or the cardstock size is too short. If you could email me at angelafisk@gmail.com with the information I'd appreciate it.
What a wonderful idea! Thank you so much for sharing! I can't wait to try one! :D
WoNdeRfUl! Thank you for sharing!

Hi! :D
I just stumbled upon your blog - via sheet-load of cards {i think?}
just wanted to say "hi" and that I think your creations are GORGEOUS! I've been fiddling with the mini mag card holder - trimmed mine a little here and there to fit together a bit better, but I'd LOVE to know if you are willing to share the template for the "average" card size holder?
thanks SO much!! going to keep playing now that I've been bitten by the bug! ~thanks!! :D
really neat. this is such a cute idea and would make a cute gift.
How fun is this mini mag holder Becky! I found this from a link on Mish Mash - I'll be trying this out for sure!
Hello Becky! Thank you for your great tutorial! I just made a box with your help! Thank you!
What a great idea to hold cards!I just found your blog and I love your crafts!
I just have to try this!
Are you going to be sharing the holder for regular size cards?
What a kewl idea! I've saved the dimensions and will take a stab at this project this weekend! Thanks!
I agree with "aprongirls"- the measurements ARE out of whack. If you add up 4 3/4+ 1 1/2 and another 3 1/4 inches=9 1/2 inches, not 7. This is in the length of the project, and the total width is
7 1/4 inches, not 7 inches.
I think it is a great idea but needs to have the numbers re-worked perhaps. Thanks
Apron Girls and Anonymous. Sorry for your frustration. The measurments ARE right. Cut your paper to the size first then score it. I think you are adding up too many numbers. Hundreds have made these with no problems. If you would like to identify yourself and e-mail me, I am sure I can help you figure out the problem.

Hi
Just made one! Love it! So cute.
Thanks for sharing.
I just made one and the measurements are fine. I would like the measurements for adjusting the holder to A2 card size if possible! Thanks.
I'm all about these. I'm totally going to make one. It is so cute!
Ok, yes I am blond but I can't get mine to work out right. Mine is ending up with 2 1/2 as my middle piece; not big enough for a 3x3 card. Help me Becky! mccune352@yahoo.com
Dear Becky!
I was looking for a template for the magazine file and I found yours. It worked out fine! I just changed the size a bit, I used 12x12 cardstock and cut away 1 inch from the left and the right side. If you are interested in my version of the mini magzine file, please check out here: http://aoutiennesstempelblog.blogspot.com/2009/08/stehsammler.html
Thanks for the great tutorial! It was a real fun project.

another March 2010 post. Love the idea of a mini magazine holder! too cute! I am off to make some mini cards, thank you so much for the tutorial!
Thank you for the project but I found that the score line should be 4 1/2 instead of 4 3/4. I just adjusted it for myself.
Becky...I love all your artwork...but I must be a DUD with a college education because its not working for me...
I was so happy to see this I just reinvented it for larger cards. If you want to see what I did here is the link http://bzibee.wordpress.com/2012/07/08/paper-notecard-holder/
Thanks so much !
